Our Story

Welcome. Come peek into our wood shop. Sit and listen to a few soft ramblings.

Here we make pretty things. Wood art, mostly. Pieces that snitch inspiration from the Midwest sunsets, a snow-cloud filled sky, or winter bare woodlands. We tug them from our imaginations, puzzle them together with our hands, and offer them to you with our dearest well-wishes and hopes that you will love them also.

Now and then, we share a video or blog post. Not tutorials or how tos, simply bits of our lives, working with our hands to make something beautiful, and sharing some quiet thoughts about creativity, wandering imaginations, and the realities of balancing making beauty with hard work & wisdom.

Who are we? I'm Sarah. You might catch glimpses of my patient husband, Nick. And hopefully, as they grow comfortable, you'll get to see my two teenage sons, Ike and Moose, who help me in the shop.

We're so glad you're here.

We started Mahogany Dandelions as a creative outlet for our crazy imaginations and as a way to give our boys some real world experience in working with their hands.

After all, who doesn’t love running power tools? And the sweet smell of sawdust only makes it better.

Yet, even more than that, we want our boys to learn that all of our steps- be they in daily life, in business, or in art-are to be made with a heart that desires to honor and glorify the Lord God. Because He is the One who blesses our work, He is the One who gives us creativity and imagination, He is the One who strengthens our hands, and He is the One who holds our souls.
